Since spotting Bermuda shorts on the Spring 2013 runways of DKNY and Rag and Bone, I’ve been looking forward to taking this new hemline out for a spin once the weather warms up. This tailored version is a great alternative to the same old high-waisted denim short shorts we’re so used to. I was happy to see this silhouette popping up again on the Fall 2013 runways at NYFW.
“I love getting dressed! I really do consider it an art form,” reveals stylist and model Ni’ma Ford. The name may not ring an instant bell but if you’re a fan of street-style blogs, like The Sartorialist, then you’ve seen her picture. And similar to Scott Schuman, you’ve been enamored by her style pedigree. Schuman has been such a fan of Ford that he put her on the cover of his latest book, Closer.
If you follow Fringueuse on Pinterest, then you know that overalls hold a special place in my heart. They have since I was in middle school. I couldn’t be more thrilled that for Spring’13, designers are reproducing the look for us grown ups in a myriad of fabrics (velvet, silk, leather and denim, of course) and styles.
Street artist Phlegm‘s hypnotizing illustration based murals covering buildings in England and featuring his other-worldly comic book characters are one-of-a-kind and huge in scale. His intricate work never ceases to amaze me. The self-described outsider to the art world made a name for himself with his popular comic books, but he loves to reach a broader audience with his street art, and he credits his public work with keeping his art fresh.
These vintage style images of Dominican stunner Genesis Vallejo modelling these gorgeous and cheeky Charlotte Olympia heels are so beautiful. The melding of photography and art is so stunning! And let’s not forget the shoes.Yes, the shoes! I just had to share these pictures.
Head over to Tooklookbook for a great round up of fabulous Charlotte Olympia shoes and bags here.
One of my favorite vintage stores in Brooklyn is Seven Wonders in Greenpoint. What makes this boutique so special? First, it’s one of the few vintage stores in New York where you can still score great blouses, dresses , skirts, accessories and shoes at low prices ( all under $100) – a notion that’s almost unheard of in New York today.
Russian Hello! fashion editor Natasha Goldenberg is a fixture on street style blogs. Her eclectic and ’70s inspired way of dressing has won her some well deserved time in front of photographer Tommy Ton‘s lens outside the shows. Goldenberg, who is also the creative director at Kova&T, has been designing her own contemporary line since 2011: Tzipporah by Natasha Goldenberg. |
